Over the past few years, the fashion world has seen the passing of quite a few revolutionary designers, one of the most recent being Vivienne Westwood. A leader in the anti-fashion movement from its inception in the 1970s, Westwood took the punk, anti-capitalist scene in Manchester and London and transformed it into a globally recognized fashion brand and persona. With the Autumn/Winter 2023 collection being the first after her passing, her eponymous fashion house took the opportunity to create a longer ad campaign that reaches viewers on a more personal level. The campaign took a nostalgic approach, featuring her granddaughter, Cora Corré, and the designer's childhood home in Manchester.
The Autumn/Winter 2023 collection was truly an exploration of the persona and brand identity that Westwood had created over the years. With iconic Vivienne fabrics such as plaids and twills formed into familiar tailored silhouettes, the collection memorialized the legacy Westwood created with her design and life partner, Andreas Kronthaler. Her granddaughter closed the tribute fashion show held in Paris in a bridal look teaming with the spirit of the brand's past, present and future.
Watch the ad campaign to get a personal look into all the details that made this memorial collection iconically 'Vivianne Westwood'.
